Happy School Year my Friends!
In addition to using Google Classroom for assignments, I am hoping to update this blog regularly as a more informal way of communicating. I will post class pictures and things we have done while we are in person HERE so families can check out what we have been up to. I hope you are all well, I am so looking forward to seeing you.

Week 2

All is going well in THIRD Grade! So far we are just continuing to get to know each other, as well as the rules and routines of the classroom. We are doing everything we can to be safe with one another, respectful of people's feelings and responsible for ourselves. One good thing to come out of all these changes is the small amount of students we have, and our new awareness of getting outside. Here are some of the activities that we did this week! We learned about the power of YET! You can become better at things, smarter, stronger, if you don't give up and say things to yourself like "I can't do this, YET!", "I will KEEP TRYING!", "I CAN DO THIS!". Students wrote about things they couldn't do yet, but would like to keep working at. We did an outdoor scavenger hunt to find things in nature and work as a team! Miss Ali’s Grade 2 Gecko’s

Hello Families!  I’m testing out a new way to keep you in the loop. My blog!  Our current science and literacy theme has us studying landforms. I asked the kids to build an island out of salt dough. They had to include three high land forms and three bodies of water. They had to make it look realistic. Here, they are using realistic colors to paint their islands! Every Tuesday for STEAM, we have a building challenge. Last week, we our challenge was to design and build a haunted house.  This last group of pictures is of students modeling how erosion makes rocks break down over time and can end up as pebbles on a beach!

Week 11

Happy Thanksgiving and mini vacation! We have remote learning today (Monday 11/23) and tomorrow. Students have vacation Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week. We will resume our normal schedule next week on Monday. I want to say that I am so thankful for all of your children. They amaze me with their creativity, their kind hearts, their willingness to keep trying, and their INSANE flexibility this year. They are so caring and gentle with me and I feel their love constantly. Thank you for raising good humans. I am so thankful for each and every one of YOU. For supporting us in this crazy time; for the communication, for your understanding, and for doing the best you can to make school a priority. I literally NEED you this year, in order to teach your kids. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
