Week 8

Happy November! I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween this weekend. A few reminders for you; if you need any winter gear (for anyone in the family) please let me know so I can help you with this. I have also asked that you sign up for a Parent/Teacher conference via zoom this year! Happening on Friday and next Monday. Students will be dismissed at 11:30. I sent a sign up sheet to you via email and via your students back. Please let me know a time that will work for you.

Last week's pictures:

We are continuing to strengthen our knowledge of place value, using different strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems. Here the students are playing games during their "get to" time. When they finish their work for the day, they have a list of choices that they can pick from.

In the spirit of Halloween, in science, we talked about the importance of our skull! The students discovered that our skulls protect our brain, helps us to talk, eat and drink, hold our important organs in place (eyes, ears) and-- this really grossed them out-- holds our face muscles so that we can laugh, smile, frown and basically, convey our emotions. The project was to create these awesome skulls!!

Students in Miss Ali's reading group our practicing stretching out works to decode (read) and write them! They are working so hard, I am super impressed.

Lastly, and most fun, each student got to decorate a gourd. Their work was displayed at our Green Street School "Trunk or Treat" on Saturday. Both their creations and the event were a big success!
